What is the Gospel?
We are created by God for fellowship with God, but no one naturally fulfills this purpose. In the language of the Bible, we are all sinners (we don't do what we should do, and we do what we shouldn't do). Because we are sinners, we are guilty before God and separated from God. God took loving action to remedy this situation. God sent his eternal Son into the world. His human name was Jesus. He lived a perfect life (without sin). He died a criminal's death as a sacrifice for our sins. He rose from the dead to rule as Christ ("the Anointed"). He now reigns in heaven, continuing to draw sinners to himself through their repentance(turning from their sinful and self-centered ways) and faith (entrusting their lives to Christ), by the power of the Holy Spirit. One day, Jesus Christ will come again to judge the living and the dead. All that is wrong will be made right, each person receiving either eternal rejection and punishment, or eternal blessing and welcome into the fullness of life with God.
Our Diocesan and Parish Mission:
In response to the Great Commission, to so present Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit that all may come to know Him as Savior and follow Him as Lord in the fellowship of His Church.
Our Parish Vision Prayer:
Almighty God, out of our love for you and for our neighbor, help us today and every day to be a God-defined community in which every member is reaching out with the love of Christ, welcoming in to the body of Christ, building up disciples of Christ, and going forth in the name of Christ. Grant this for the sake of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
